PCOD
PCOD, or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, is a common hormonal disorder affecting women of reproductive age. It is characterized by irregular menstrual cycles due to hormonal imbalances,
including higher levels of androgens (male hormones) than normal. Women with PCOD may experience symptoms such as irregular periods, excessive hair growth (hirsutism), acne, and weight gain. PCOD can also lead to complications such as infertility, insulin resistance, and an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Diagnosis typically involves a combination of medical history, physical examination, and blood tests. Management of PCOD often includes lifestyle changes such as regular exercise and a balanced diet, along with medication to regulate menstrual cycles and address specific symptoms. Early diagnosis and treatment can help manage PCOD symptoms and reduce the risk of long-term complications.
